Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Guffaw

I was going to take the train into the city to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade but the meteorologists were warning of wind and freezing rain that threatened the flying of the balloons. So I decided not to risk it and stayed home to watch it on television instead. Staying home had its benefits besides being warm and dry. It was cheaper and saved me 6 hours total commute time.

First, let me complain about the NBC coverage. I love Matt Lauer and Meredith Veiera, but whoever is producing and directing this has turned it into a jumbled nightmare. There are so many pre-taped pieces and segments that a lot of the parade is presented out of sequence and on tape. I switched over to CBS who was showing the parade live as it proceeded through Times Square. It was much more enjoyable, giving a feeling of being there rather than a crappy made-for-television production.

The best part of the whole thing was that I had one of the best belly laughs I've experienced in a very long time.

Setting The Scene
What: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Where: CBS Live Coverage
Who: Dave Price and Hannah Storm "At The Desk" commentators; Neil Patrick Harris "Man On The Street" interviewer

Dave: As he sees a new float coming into Times Square, "Oh look who's coming now..."

Cut to show Neil on the street.

Neil: As he turns to see the float, "It's Bruce Vilanch!"

Cut to show the float. The float is a promotion for the upcoming movie Charlotte's Web with a huge Wilbur the pig front and center.

Now, that's good television!

Dave and Hannah didn't acknowledge the comment because it goes over their heads or they're afraid to chime in. They didn't even snicker — but I was howling!
