Rosie and Kelly and Clay, Oh My!

Well the controversy started with Clay Aiken's co-hosting stint on Live with Regis and Kelly last Friday. During an interview, Clay covers Kelly Ripa's mouth so he can ask a question.

Here is a recap clip from The View, with Rosie O stating that Kelly's chastising comment is 'homophobic' in nature:

A few moments later, Kelly phones in and reads Rosie the riot act:

I watched these live as they happened. Here's how I see it:

The Situation
• Clay was rude
• Kelly put him in his place which I didn't see as a big deal...after all, it is her show
• I don't think Kelly meant anything homophobic
• Kelly got a little carried away dissing Clay to Regis on Monday morning's show
• I think Rosie is sensitive to being a closeted gay person trying to keep a big secret under the intense media spotlight and she may have interpreted something that wasn't intended

The Resolution
• Clay should apologize to Kelly for dissing her on Live w/ R&K
• Kelly should apologize to Clay for dissing him on Live w/ R&K
• Rosie should apologize to Kelly for dissing her on The View

Update 11/22
• Kelly said nothing on Live although Regis made a passing joke about a feud
• Babs Walters took over on The View and affirmed that Kelly and Rosie are nice and there would no more discussion
• Rosie later said that she and Clay have become very close since he last appeared on The View and they are in contact via phone often
• Rosie said she had phoned both Kelly and Clay after the Tuesday show and things have been worked out
