Vermont Mountain View

The term 'Green Mountains' (French: Verts monts) is somewhat of a misnomer. When I think of mountains, I think of the Rockies, Alps, or Andes. But the ranges here in the northern part of the Appalachian chain are more like big hills. That goes for the Adirondacks, Catskills, and Poconos, too.

Now that I think of it, this pic reminds me of Park City, Utah which is nestled in the Wasatch range of the Rockies. Only in Park City, the whole mountain is covered with ski trails.Originally inhabited by the Abenaki, Algonquian, and Iroquois tribes, the territory that is now Vermont was claimed by France (hence the French-derived name) but became a British possession after France's defeat in the French and Indian War.
