** SPOILER ALERT FOR ENTIRE POST **
Lets start with last week's elimination show. And how much do I love Kellie Pickler? Love, love, love her. Baby's got some (new) curves! Has she had 'em done? When Ryan Seacrest asked if she'd bought anything recently while staring at her boobs, she replied in her typical I-don't-have-the foggiest-idea-what-you're-talking-about fashion, "Shoes."
Carrie Underwood will be on tonight's show so make sure you check back next week for my TV Thursday review.
Sanjaya and Antonella didn't get the boot. What's up with that? That put me at only 50% on my predictions. And if Frenchie had to go for her Internet photos, Antonella should go too. At least Frenchie could sing!
I felt sorry for Alaina when she was too upset to sing off after getting the bad news that she was going home, we're reminded that these are real people with real feelings and aspirations. She had a great personality and was likable, but I predicted she wouldn't make the cut because her rendition of I'm Not Ready To Make Nice just didn't cut it.
The other gal that didn't receive enough votes to stay, Leslie Hunt, changed the lyrics to her song when she was singing off, saying, "Why did I decide to scat? America don't care for jazz!" In last week's post, I said she had a playful personality. She proved it. Good for her.
For the guys, Nick was on my do not return list. A.J., while probably not due to go last week, isn't best in show and was bound to leave sooner rather than later.
Now for this week's show.
Boys
Brandon Rogers (pictured) — Classical piano player in his intro...very nice. Way better than last week. Really good.
Blake Lewis — Loved the "character" he did in his intro. The singing could have been better. Sang a song from 311 who he said was his favorite band.
Sanjaya Malakar — Singing much better than last week. Needs to sing louder/stronger with more conviction.
Sundance Head — Not so good. Judges like him.
Chris Richardson — The Timberlake-alike went country pop. Very good.
Jared Cotter — Song styling very good, singing okay.
Phil Stacey — Didn't like it.
Chris Sligh — Good.
My Predictions For This Week
• Favorite — Brandon Rogers
• Out — Sundance Head, Phil Stacey [Sanjaya could end up as this year's John Stevens]
Past Results
• Out 3/1/7 — Nick Pedro, A.J. Tabaldo
• Out 2/22/7 — Rudy Cardenas, Paul Kim
Girls
Melinda Doolittle (pictured) — Great!
LaKisha Jones — Really good
Jordin Sparks — Good
Sabrina Sloan — Really good...her looks remind me of Gloria Estefan
Antonella Barba — Seemed nervous, off key on low notes
Haley Scarnato — Really good; I definitely disagreed with the judges
Stephanie Edwards — Pretty good
Gina Glockson — Strong voice, ran out of gas by the end, I didn't really like the song
My Predictions For This Week
• Favorite — Melinda Doolittle
• Out — Antonella Barba, Haley Scarnato (due to Simon's critique)
Past Results
• Out 3/1/7 — Alaina Alexander, Leslie Hunt
• Out 2/22/7 — Amy Krebs, Nicole Tranquillo
UPDATE: Jared Cotter, Sundance Head, Antonella Barba, and Sabrina Sloan did not receive enough votes to stay.
