Jim Coyne, the general manager of the Albany Patroons, says he will always be friends with former coach Micheal Ray Richardson. Richardson was suspended after Game 1 of the CBA championship series after he was quoted in the Albany Times Union newspaper as saying he had "big-time Jew lawyers" and that Jews were "crafty" and "shrewd." Read my previous post on this from a week ago for more background on this story.
Richardson has now been terminated after an internal investigation. He was not fired for the anti-semetic remarks. However, the team was less forgiving of Richardson's public scolding of a fan, whom he referred to as a "faggot." It doesn't seem as though he was fired for the homophobic part of the tirade, rather that he went after a fan.
