"Bus driver, move that bus!"

Tonight's two-hour season finale (7-9 p.m. EDT) of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was shot in the Albany (NY) County village of Colonie* back in March. The show, featuring alternately handsome|homely buff|lanky charismatic|annoying soft-spoken|bullhorn-equipped sober|drunk host Ty Pennington, teamed up with local builder Amedore Homes for a complete demolition and rebuild. The home was presented to Debbie Oatman-Gaitan for her efforts in managing a household with four boys (three adopted — two are HIV+), and her work in the HIV community.

*Colonie is most noted for Wolf Road where there are some corporate offices and a lot of restaurants and hotels/inns that serve the adjacent Albany International Airport (ALB). During the 70's and 80's, it was home to the area's busiest mall Colonie Center with Sears and Macy's as its anchor stores. The mall is making somewhat of a comeback with an expansion and refurbishment after being supplanted in the 90's by the nearby Crossgates Mall which is probably three times its size over in the village of Guilderland.
