Michael over at Manhattan Chowder tagged me with this meme.
Here's how it works:
* Post a similar post to this one and add a link back to the person who tagged you.
* List 5 reasons why you blog about the things you blog about on your blog.
* Choose your 5 tag ‘victims’ and tag them nicely. :)
* Write a comment on their blog letting them know that you tagged them. Voila!
#5 It's Like A Book Club, Only Not
I'm not a book reader since my poor comprehension makes it very frustrating to read anything beyond things presented in a short burst. So my take on a book club is my television show recaps. I've been trying to generate some discussion about my favorite shows with recap posts. I think it is fun to discuss something that we've all seen but viewed through our own personal lenses.
It's kinda like this meme. I haven't read Michael's post yet as I want this to be individually mine. Then it will be interesting to read how someone else, and the others I send this to, respond to the same question.
Sean over at Idle Eyes and a Dormy has been thinking about picking a subject and having all of our blogger contacts write a post on the same subject on the same day. How fun would that be?
#4 It's Like Writing a Book, Only Not
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me I should write a book, I'd have about $8. In my first post I said that a lot of funny things happen to me and this would be a great way to tell those stories. As it turned out, my other blog Alzheimer's Moments that I started at the same time as Why Oh Why has been the outlet for most of my funny stories.
#3 It's Like Dating, Only Not
I'm using the term 'dating' loosely here. Most associate it with a process that eventually leads to some type of encounter or commitment. I think of the dating process as getting to know someone and them getting to know me. Blogging is a technological twist on that. I get to know someone through their writings and they get to know me through mine. I probably get to hear and tell more about what's really going on besides opining about the weather. If I end up with some friends along the way then it will have been a worthwhile effort indeed.
#2 It's Like Being Partnered, Only Not
On a trip to Las Vegas after I broke up with my first partner, I was reminded of the difference between being single and being partnered. I love to play craps. It's great when you have the table loaded and the shooter is on a roll. It's even better when you have someone special standing next to you and you can turn to them and excitedly say, "Did you see that?" I don't have anyone in my life to turn to and ask that question so blogging provides me with that feeling. And sometimes, through the comments feature, some of you write back and tell me, "Yes I did!"
#1 It's Like Traveling, Only Not
Of all the joyful things I do in my life, traveling is #1 by far. While recent life circumstances have curtailed that for me, I'm very fortunate to have been to a lot of wonderful places. I always get out and walk and/or drive and see as much as I can when I go someplace new. I want to know what life would be like if I ever lived there. The blogging experience allows me to do a bit of that from my desk. A more personal version of watching The Travel Channel.
I enjoy reading blog posts that have pictures of different places and stories that describe what life is like there. On a trip to London years ago, I wrote a recap of my day and send it to my best friend each night. She said it was just like being there.
Hopefully the folks who read this blog have enjoyed my posts about the Albany area. I've included a lot of gardening posts, which is my #2 passion, as the plant life here is much different from when I lived in Orange County, CA, and I think that would be interesting for someone who doesn't live in this climate. Sometimes I wish I still lived in southern CA since there would be an endless amount of material to write about.

Yes, but what does it do?
I've been tagged with a meme, but I don't feel any differently than if I'd played tag with a mime, or been to a tag sale with Auntie Mame. (Neither of which I've done, but both of which I'd be open to.)
Great answers! Thanks for playing along.
I will do this, I'm just getting my time and life back from rehab.
Hope all is going well
