Low-Cal Diet Tip #3: Fast Food (Breakfast) Is Not Off Limits

When it comes to breakfast, I only have a cup of coffee and a piece of seasonal fruit when I'm in diet mode. When I'm out and about, however, it's good to know I can make better choices when I'm armed with good data.

Breakfast Meal: Starbuck's
Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino Blended Coffee — 400
Blueberry Muffin — 420
Total Calories — 820

Alternative: McDonald's
Egg McMuffin — 300
Medium Orange Juice — 180
Coffee, 2 Cream, 2 Splenda — 40
Total Calories — 520
Fancy coffee drinks are loaded with calories; muffins, which you would think are healthy, are loaded with fat and calories. Yes, yogurt would be better, but in this scenario the Egg McMuffin can be a healthier choice.

May I take your order, please?

Egg McMuffins on an occasional basis are not as bad as the blueberry muffin thing on a regular basis. It's the deep-fried potato hashbrowns that I can eat 5 of in a sitting.

Try the egg and cheese on an english muffin at Dunkin Donuts. I read somewhere that that is a great alternative too! Couple it with an iced coffee.... ummmmmmmm!

Always eat breakfast but skip the mid-morning snack, the mid-afternoon snack, the mid-evening snack, and the midnight snack.

That's my only diet advice.
