It's so easy to get a quick meal during the week when you don't feel like cooking. The pick-up window is a tempting prospect.
Lunch/Dinner Meal: Burger King #1 Whopper MealBenefit from a huge reduction of calories just by making smart choices. While I like the BK Whopper meal, it is really high in fat and I enjoy the Wendy's Chicken Sandwich just as well.
Whopper (No Cheese) — 670
Add Cheese — 90
Medium Fries — 360
Medium Coke — 200
Total Calories — 1,230 (1,320 w/ Cheese)
Alternative #1: Burger King Dinner Salad
TenderGRILL Chicken Dinner Salad — 240
Croutons — 60
Light Italian Dressing — 120
Medium Diet Coke — 0
Total Calories — 420
Alternative #2: Wendy's #5 Grilled Chicken Meal
Ultimate Grilled Chicken Sandwich — 320
Substitute Side Salad for Fries — 35
Reduced Fat Ranch Dressing — 90
Medium Light Lemonade — 10
Total Calories — 455
One thing I'm noticing is that the calorie count on the larger dinner salads can be a bit deceiving if you opt for regular instead of reduced fat dressing. And as you can see here, choosing a salad is not necessarily a lot fewer calories than the alternative sandwich.
Please drive through!

It's not the calories per se, it's what makes up those calories. You can eat a HUGE salad with chicken that will fill you up, not raise your glycemic index and still keep your diet.
Glad to see you're not doing your 500 calorie a day thing.
When I diet I take the "burn more calories than you eat" approach. I've never been on Weight Watchers but from what I understand my way is similar to that.
I can't do Atkin's because I love carbs too much. I could live on carbs alone! Rice and potatoes and bread (with tons of butter), oh my!
There are all kinds of diets and tweaks that one could do. One good thing about these posts is that they are just my little tips and we can all share tidbits that work for us.
Most of the tips save some calories here and there but they all add up by the end of the day. It just happened that one day I had only 500 calories...most days on a diet are around 1000. Friends say they'd starve on that but...in this example alone, you can have a BK salad for lunch and Wendy's chicken for dinner, with a banana and coffee for breakfast, and still be under 1000, instead of having the Whopper for one meal and shooting the whole day!
Throw in a brisk walk and the normal calories to run your body during the day and I'm at a net under on calories and therefore losing weight. :)
I always get Whopper Jr.s if I have to have my Whopper fix.
Most of the time I can't even finish one of those.
But then again I have food issues about finishing all my food [I only eat until I feel somewhat full].
