My girl Casey won again last night. She's on a (figurative) roll.
It's getting tougher as the number of cheftestants dwindles. The main challenge was to prepare food to be served on First Class on a Continental Airlines to a select group of airline pilots and flight attendants. Casey won with a veal medallions dish that the judges loved.
The quick fire challenge was won by Hung with a traditional steak and eggs breakfast and a fruit smoothie with a kick. He's the only one left that I don't like. Although last night, he prepared one of my favorite dishes...Chilean sea bass...that I've enjoyed at Pascal Newport Beach. Absolutely outstanding!
Openly gay Josie Smith-Malave, who was a cheftestant on the second season of Top Chef, was among a small group of women who were beaten by attackers yelling anti-gay slurs after being asked to leave a Sea Cliff (on Long Island, NY) bar over Labor Day weekend. About 10 young people followed the women and began screaming anti-gay epithets, spitting on them and then beating them.
Smith-Malave is a former sous-chef for Marlow and Sons restaurant in Brooklyn and played for the New York Sharks of the Independent Women's Football League.
