The letter to the media is most likely a fake. I pray that Jaliek is alive but fear the worst in this case :(
I appreciated this statement: That is what we are fighting: jihadism, the religiously inspired ideology which teaches that it is every Muslim's duty to use any means necessary to compel the world's submission to Islam. That most of the world's Muslims do not accept this definition of the demands of their faith is true—and beside the point. The jihadists believe this. That is why they are the enemy of their fellow Muslims and the rest of the world.
It seems apologist and overly PC to some, but I think it's important to make these distinctions before making a case. We are in a war against jihadism, not in a war against Islam. If we're going to win the war (and I think we will), engaging the support of moderate Muslims is key. If we ignore them (and continue to fight with our military but not our political and diplomatic resources as well), we just create more jihadists.
