My mother has been sick and has barely eaten a thing for a week. I made Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for lunch today to get something in her stomach.
I'm 44, and I just figured out that you add the powdered cheese mix to the butter and milk to form the cheese sauce before adding the pasta back in. I used to melt the butter, put in the macaroni, add the milk, then the cheese mix. And I'd wonder why it was so hard to get that dry cheese to mix in.
Duh!

Um, there's a bit of text somewhere on the package called "instructions" but I've always done what you did. If you want to get some protein into your mom, add a can of solid white tuna, or cooked chicken and some sort of green veg, like broccoli tips.
They used to be 5 for a $1. Helped get me through college.
Hope your mom feels better soon.
I've never had Kraft Mac & Cheese.
Ummmm....your supposed to do it that way. I'm 35 & I never knew either. Thank you for sharing that bit of info with us. Now I won't mess up for the millioneth time next time I make it. LOL!
Hope your Mom feels better soon & that she is able to eat something.
Wow. Yeah, you really should've learned the proper way to make it back in like college.
Sort of how raman noodles are ONLY good when made in a hot pot.
My kids love that crap. Blech! I don't think we've ever made it the "right" way. why dirty up an extra dish?
Don't listen to these people YOY. Where I come from, Kraft M&C is the height of white trailer park trash cuisine.
The next time you make M&C, put some cut up hotdogs in it. But not just any old hot dogs. Use generic store brand hotdogs - you'll get the perfect blend of pig's lips and assholes for the perfect balance against the over-saltiness of the powdered cheese.
