TV Tuesday On Wednesday: American Idol

The final 10 were challenged to sing songs from the year of their birth. Nothing like making me feel old.

My Favorites Of The Night
Carly Smithson — Total Eclipse Of The Heart
• Great song, great performance.

Syesha Mercado — If I Were Your Woman
• I'm still digging her in a big way. Poised.

David Cook — Billy Jean
• He sang a completely reworked version of the Michael Jackson classic. Admirable effort and quite risky. I wasn't sure how I felt while he was singing it, but afterward, it left me with a pleasant finish.

The Rest (In Order Of Performance)
Ramiele Malubay — Alone
• When all the contestants came out at the beginning of the show, it was the first time I noticed that she is about 3 feet tall. Her performance wasn't great and she was a little flat on some notes. The judges mentioned she was very sick...I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that it made the difference.

Jason Castro — Fragile
• Seacrest was dressed monochromatic; Castro sang monotone-atic. Forgettable. He's dumber than a box of rocks, socially retarded, and he's gotta go.

Chikezie Eze — If Only For One Night
• I love his personality and his background story as the son of Nigerian immigrants. The performance was boring.

Brooke White — Every Breath You Take
• After a false start, she did very well. Based on this performance, I'd pay to see her in a nightclub but not in a venue. She's got talent, but I'm not sure it is American Idol arena talent.

Michael Johns — We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions
• A mashup of two Queen songs. He's done Freddie Mercury before with Bohemian Rhapsody and he does it pretty well.

David Archuleta — You're The Voice
• I thought his intro video showing how he danced with his sister when he was young was very endearing. [Sidenote here: Endearing gets me into trouble. It's the quality that makes me fall in love.] I didn't know what song he sang but he seemed to do a fine job with it.

Kristy Lee Cook — God Bless The U.S.A.
• I love her personality and her Dad's a stud. That's good enough for me. She chose a great song but she missed her chance to use some power and blow the roof off.

Final Thought
Is it misogynistic to say I can't stand screaming girls?

You and I had pretty much the same spin on last night's performances and I'm with you, I don't like the screaming girls (the performers OR the audience).

Yes we do have similar thoughts. I do agree, even though I enjoyed the song he sang this week...I do agree Jason has to go. He cannot speak on the mike..he babbles. I agree, I would go see Brooke in a nightclub but not pay to see her at a venue. You know I'm a fan of David C & Michael. They were my faves of the evening...plus Syesha did a real good job too.

That pic of Kristi Lee's father (shirtless) holding her as a baby... gave me a chubby.

"Screaming" is not misogynistic but "shrill" is. Don't ask me why.

You and I agree completely on last nights performances. Sy-icka was even good. Daddy was very fine, and I like his looks now as well. Yum.
