It's down to the final six, and they were challenged with the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber. He gave some honest evaluation of the contestants in the pre-performance clips rather than gushing like previous mentors.
In Order Of My Preference
Syesha Mercado — One Rock And Roll Too Many
• She's still hot. Hot, hot, hot!!! I've dug her all along and I loved this performance as well. In one of the camera shots, I noticed a violin player in the background with a huge smile and really enjoying herself. It's an excellent sign when the band is into the song with you.
David Cook — Music Of The Night
• He won me over. I actually listened to the whole thing! Great job!
Carly Smithson — Jesus Christ Superstar
• She's back! I'm happy that she changed her song choice. I've been a bit down on her the past few weeks. The lighting effects were very distracting.
David Archuleta — Think Of Me
• It was still that classic Archuleta sound, but I actually like this one. Very good job.
Brooke White — You Must Love Me
• Once was endearing; twice a tragedy. I like her but I have to hold her to the same standard I would for anyone else. The stop and restart warrants major demerits here. All I could think through the rest of the song was that she was going to forget the words. It became stressful, not enjoyable. I feel a bit guilty being so critical. I doubt she'll go home this week as she'll pull a ton of sympathy votes.
Jason Castro — Memory
• Yes, Jason, memory is what you lost to THC about 2 years ago. Brain cells — they're a terrible thing to waste. I thought it was going to be like nails on a chalkboard but it wasn't absolutely awful. He still needs to go.
Moment of the Night
Besides Brooke stopping and starting...Carly rushed off stage after the judges comments and returned with a t-shirt stating "Simon Loves Me (this week)".

Yes, we did have the same opinions this week, just in a different order. Gavin, I think you might finally get your wish. We might finally say goodbye to Jason tonight. Either him or Brooke I'm predicting, but I think she will get the sympathy votes. Not sure. I hope we don't have another "shocker".
I missed Syesha, but it looked good in the clip at the end.
I thought Fartuleta did the best, because he jazzed up the song some. David was painful for me to watch because his vibrato drove me crazy. Loved Carly-- it finally looked like she had FUN out there.
The other two sucked ass.
Syesha clearly got her groove on. Loved it.
Jason Castro...for a few weeks now, I've been looking at the spacy grin and wondering...what is this dude smoking?
(My FAVORITE) David Cook...um...not so much, last night. Still, he's my fav.
Brooke...oh puh-leeze. Just shoot her and put us all out of our misery.
Carly...I'm sorry. Just too skanky for my taste.
"It became stressful, not enjoyable. I feel a bit guilty being so critical." LOL, oh lord, how must you feel after reading my Idol critique this week? The claws came out and no one was safe! But that's what they get for subjecting us to an hour of Andrew Lloyd Weber music.
Poor Carly! Simon complements her and she gets the boot. Horrible decision America, Jason should have gone.
