It is week #7 and I am up another pound to 172. I've found that I'm sick of the diet food. What once was delicious baby lettuce greens are now monotonous rabbit food! I succumbed to hamburgers and ice cream. I'm also wondering if my body has gone into starvation mode since I was averaging about 750 calories a day for the first five weeks. Is it possible I need to eat more to lose more? In my dreams, perhaps!
I have had no exercise, either. The humidity has been oppressive and we've had thunder and lightning almost every day. The lawn is usually showing signs of distress (brown patches) at this time of year but everything is very green.

I have tried to cut down too buddy. I can go for a week and then I get suicidal. I am also trying to get my cholesterol down too. But I keep getting dragged back to burgers and ice cram too. Im so crap! I can give up cigarettes but I can give up junk food :-(
750 calories a day is what your brain and autonomic functions require; naturally any activity you do takes away from that, which makes a person irritable. Time and time again studies have shown that reducing calories doesn't work for weight loss in the long run.
When you crave a candy bar have a piece of fruit, when you crave ice cream have Jell-o instead. Go to the mall and walk around for an hour in the air conditioning to get your exercise. Just remember not to dawdle - walk with purpose, and don't forget your posture!
Also, drink plenty of water. Keep trying different things until you figure out what your body needs to find its own best weight.
MSM---The problem is that my body thinks its own best weight is about 200 lbs.! :)
So then that's what it is - for your age, activity level, and time of year. I'm not fond of the fact that my ideal weight seems to be 222, because for years I've harboured the fantasy that I can have back the waistline I had when I was 20.
Well, I'm never gonna look like Zac Efron, so I just gave up on that dream and now I'm trying to look the best I can under the circumstances.
Thirty minutes a day on the elliptical trainer at your local air conditioned community centre will make a world of good. Just make sure that while you're doing it you're holding your stomach in and standing tall and you'll notice a change almost after the first time.
I've taken up swimming again, and it has done what no diet ever could. 31" waist! I am eating normally, with a bit of sweet stuff from time to time, and I'm staying steady at 174. You have a pool nearby? I'm doing six miles a week. Feel like a kid again!
