Morning Glory

I grew the morning glories from seeds. Here is a pic from June 19th after they first started.

Now they are fully entwined around the 7' wrought iron trellis. They have a lot of pollen, which you can see in some of the pics, and the bees have been very busy.

Very nice buddy. All mines starting to rot away now. The Autumn is starting here and nothing but rain and cold.

They grow wild here, but for some reason only the white ones. In fact, I wasn't aware there even were coloured ones.

(It just occurred to me that this comment, out of context, could get me banned from Pam's House Blend.)

MSM--Funny, when I was growing up, we only grew a soft blue. Then I saw the packet of assorted so I figured I'd give them a try. Since I took these pics, the tendrils have now dropped down from the top of the trellis are beginning to wind around the hummingbird feeder.

Another five years they'll be living indoors and eating your groceries; they are almost as invasive as the Marines.

As I said, I don't think anyone in Vancouver's planted one in a decade, but they grow everywhere. I'd be interested to know why it's only the white ones though; maybe they lose their colour when not being cultivated?

MSM--are you sure you're not seeing bindweed? They look like white morning glory vines, but are evil incarnate. The roots can go down several feet, and they march on like Sherman through Atlanta. I had to dig up and sterilize two succulent beds because the neighbors' "white morning glory" got into them. Destroy on sight!

How I love morning glories. And for some strange reason I forgot to plant them this year. I've only grew the blue one's never the multi coloured. Next spring I must look for those seeds.
