Hero Of The Week: Charles Barkley

I have to say that I've always enjoyed Charles Barkley. I was a Philadelphia 76er fan back when he was drafted into the NBA as the "round mound of rebound."

When former NBA player John Amaechi came out of the closet a couple of years ago, he was one of the first to offer his support and criticize Tim Hardaway's homophobic comments. And he did so on television to a national audience.

Now that the NBA season has started, I see him on the pregame, post-game, and halftime shows of the games on TNT. He's funny and doesn't take himself too seriously.

His interview with CNN's Campbell Brown this week caught my eye. He proves he's not just a dumb jock. He gets it. I love his philosophy on becoming the Governor of Alabama!

[Ignore the first 5 seconds of the video. It was posted by an evangelical and they put a header on the clip. I couldn't find a different clip to post instead that had so much of the interview so I'm using this one with this disclaimer.]
