LGBT Rights Rally In Albany

An estimated 2,000 people rallied on the steps of the state capitol in Albany, NY for marriage equality, GENDA, and dignity for all students. Folks came from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, the North Country, the Southern Tier, Hudson Valley, Long Island, NYC and, of course, the Capital District. The event was coordinated by the Empire State Pride Agenda.

It was a bit hot, even in the shade, but it was a well attended event and I think the coupe was having the GOP Assemblymember speak. She considers marriage equality a civil right and spoke approvingly of her openly gay son.

The Capitol was constructed between 1867 and 1899 and inspired by the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) in Paris, France. The building is constructed in both the Romanesque and Renaissance revival styles.

After some consideration, I have deleted a comment that was disparaging and didn't add to the story. As I say in the commenting block, "Respectful dialogue encouraged; personal attacks are not."

Well, I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree on negative comments... I've never had any yet, and I keep hoping. I prefer a bigot to be out in the open; I feel censoring them actually serves them rather than you.

Just my opinion.
