Ear Bug: Moonlight Feels Right by Starbuck

This reminds me of a family vacation to Old Orchard Beach, ME.

The wind blew some luck in my direction
I caught it in my hands today
I finally made a tricky French connection
You winked and gave me your ok
I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothing like the sky to dose a potion
The moon'll send you on your way, ha, ha
Moonlight feels right, moonlight feels right

We'll lay back and observe the constellations
And watch the moon smiling bright
I'll play the radio on southern stations
'Cause southern belles are hell at night
You say you came to Baltimore from Ole Miss
A class of '74 gold ring
The eastern moon looks ready for a wet kiss
To make the tide rise again, ha, ha
Moonlight feels right, moonlight feels right

We'll see the sun come up on sunday mornin'
And watch it fade the moon away
I guess you know I'm givin' you a warnin'
'Cause me and moon are itchin' to play
I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothing like the sky to dose a potion
The moon'll send you on your way
Moonlight feels right, moonlight feels right
Good times!

I bought a remastered version of this song on iTunes a while back and unfortunately it sounds a little too polka-ish with too much emphasis on the instrument on the 2nd and 4th beats.

Wow..I am glad I simply read this beautiful tome before I "heard" it. I love the poetry, but not the song. I am copying the text though, It is BEAUTIFUL. My imagination ran much more freely with the written word than the kind of tacky guitars playing. THANKS for telling me about this song, unknown to me, Gavin.

BOY DO I FEEL DORKY! My mind was on writing Christmas cards when I first read this. I came back...and of COURSE, I remembered it. Hm. NOW I can't GET the music out of my head when I read it. Darn. Oh well, hell to get old enough to REMEMBER these songs? WAS THIS a good memory for you at the B each...hm? Hah.
