Odds And Ends

I don't have a funny post for Saturday Sh!ts and Giggles today. Nothing came my way that struck me as particularly funny this week and I'm too lazy to go find something. I'm doing a lot of work in the gardens to prep for fall. Hedge trimming, relocating perennials, and doing a final weeding.

So, I'm going to do some blog housekeeping:

Chevy Volt
I updated the Chevy Volt post to include some photos of the design version. Now you can compare the promised vs production.

Reality TV: Project Runway
• Heidi Klum's style is really bugging me this season. I don't know if it's the short hemline, the really high heels, or her legs, but she's irritating me from the waist down.
• I like designer Korto the best. She has great designs and doesn't seem to get caught up in all the catty bullshit.


• I found designer Joe to be the most attractive. Straight, though. But what was up with his smile? Very toothy, top and bottom, like he's showing off his years of orthodontia work. He got the boot last week.


Reality TV: Big Brother 10
• I liked Big Brother 10 winner Dan from the start. Handsome with a compelling quirky personality. Too bad he's a crazy Catholic with ideas like a woman can't be president. Oh, and he's quite the manipulative liar. He's very fuckable but not LTR material. If only he was about 20 years older, agnostic, gay, and trustworthy, he'd be perfect! I know, that's a big if only!


• Dirk should be happy that his favorite BB10 houseguest Keesha received $25K as favorite player/juror.

Portentilla
I updated the Little Yellow Flowers post with a correct title and updated labels. Why Oh Why? regular reader/commenter Alex correctly identified them as Potentilla.

TV Wednesday On Thursday: Project Runway

**SPOILER ALERT**

He's fucking fierce and he's the winner. Great for him!

I mentioned that I had inadvertently seen a story with his photo a couple of week's ago so I had an inkling who the winner was already.

As was discussed in the comments of last week's post, Chris and Sweet P joined Christian, Jillian, and Rami at Fashion Week. I think it was a little disingenuous of the show to portray it as something else. It's okay they all showed and only the top three would be judged to be the best. But they shouldn't have built up a false drama between Rami and Chris that one would be going home. I suspect that to fill the house, they had to do more than put on a show of three unknowns. They probably had to make it more of an event. Just tell us. We're adults.

TV Wednesday On Thursday: Project Runway

**SPOILER ALERT**

I skipped posting about Project Runway last week so this week's post is a two-fer.

Last week's show was a "get the gang back together" group show where all the contestants talked about their experience now that the show was over. They also named Christian to be the fan favorite. I'd say he is mine, too, although I think he would drive me crazy if I knew him in person.

Does anyone think that contestant Kevin reminds them of blogger Moby?

Next was the decision on whether to send Rami or Chris to show at Fashion Week. I hadn't seen any previous footage of Chris being a big over-the-top San Francisco drag queen. The costumes in those pics were fa-bu-lous. He should get a gig at Beach Blanket Babylon which is one of my favorite nights out in San Fran. Chris's designs all seemed to focus on the use of human hair. That was his unique selling point and it was either gonna make him or break him. At first I was a little weirded out, but then I thought about how so many people are using extensions of real human hair these days, so what's the diff?

Rami, who blogger Joe.My.God met at a NYC dance party, presented quite classic styles. Nothing weird but nothing too common either. The judges singled out a dress that incorporated some of his draping style — of all the designs presented last night, it was my favorite, too. Rami's back story is interesting as well. Born in Jerusalem, his birth mother was beauty queen Miss Jordan back in the day. Now he's living in L.A. (Silverlake area for all you leatherettes out there) and making a go of it. Good for him!

The final decision came down for Rami although I think they all were really sad to see Chris go. Too bad their weren't four spots at Fashion Week.

So the next episode is the last. I think I inadvertently read a story on the winner. That's going to take the fun out of it for me.

TV Wednesday On Thursday: Project Runway

This week is the first I've started watching Project Runway. It seems on these Bravo reality series that I either like the contestants work, or personality, but not both.

I love Christian's work, but he's a bit of a jerk. I suppose at 21, with all that talent, his personality has developed in a skewed environment.

I like Jillian's work, but she's so quiet it's hard to know what her personality is, other than "quiet."

Rami has incredible biceps.

Chris has fantastic vision to create spectacular dresses which are over the top.

We'll see how it goes!
