The Blue Octopus

One structure dominates the skyline around here. It is the tower — affectionately called The Blue Octopus — that supplies the City of Troy, NY with water.

Note the rolling hills that are typical of the area's topography. Also, the valley in the bottom 1/3 of Photo #1 is where the Hudson River is located and flows left (North) to right (South). The cars on Route 7 in the lower right are disappearing down a hill that will take them over the Collar City Bridge to Rensselaer County and further East to Vermont, or to I-787 where they can go South to Albany. Route 7 is the way most of those coming up from NYC and New Jersey travel to reach Vermont.

What would be awesome is if it started walking - like in that movie "Wild Wild West".
