These pictures would start a fight in this country, in which half of the people looking at them would insist they are cattails and the other half adamant that they are bullrushes.

For all that Canada is a paragon of civilization, we can sure argue over the stupidest stuff.

MSM--Funny you should mention that. When I wrote the post, I looked it up to make sure cattail was one word and not two. That's when I discovered they were called bullrushes and something else in Britain. I expected reader/commenter Romach to be the one to complain!

He's probably over at "Bear Schmear", drooling over Rich.

That must be where the two names come from then; for all that people claim Canada is almost entirely Americanized, we still have a lot of British holdover stuff.
