Mudflats is a pretty good blog; good on yer for finding it.
It seems obvious to me that McCain was looking for someone who could give oil companies access to drill in the ANWR, on the slim (and getting slimmer) chance he and this Christine Todd Whitman clone actually manage to get elected (or, more likely, figure out how to steal the election from Obama).
One comment that leapt out at me from the coverage of Palin at Mudflats is her confusion over what the Vice President does all day, if anything. How out to lunch is she? Google dat shee-it and find out! (Does the phrase "President pro tem of the Senate" ring any bells?)
Not since the prospect of President Dan Quayle has a running mate given me such heebie-jeebies...
