Ed Weaver Is A Nitwit 9.26.06

Ed Weaver's column appears every Tuesday in The Record newspaper in Troy, NY. I'd say he's a right-wing conservative, but all indications are that he's even whackier than that. His views are so skewed, and based in a reality that I don't even recognize, that I think he sees the world through fun house mirrors‚ only it isn't funny. He's proof of the theory that hindsight is 20/20, only his vision is 20/100...20 for those things that support his views, 100 for those that don't.

Weaver has the same philosophy used by the Bush administration. If I repeat something often enough, no matter how stupid or unbelievable, it must be true. Interviews, sworn affidavits, reports, bi-partisan commissions — well if the experts don't agree with me, they're obviously idiots with an agenda. [Oh, and the people of Iraq are all happy and living in beautiful homes with white picket fences expressing their newfound freedom of speech and having blowout parties every weekend with the family and friends.]

First, I must be clairvoyant. My last post about this nitwit, a week ago, talked about the pursuit of Osama bin Laden. Then the crap hit the fan over the weekend when Chris Wallace over at FOX "News" interviewed Mr. Clinton. And now we come to this week's column by Ed Weaver. It's almost as if he read my blog, saw the interview, then went to the RNC website and spun his own reality devoid of facts.

Here's an excerpt from Weaver's 9.26.06 article and my feelings about it. Just one quote today since I covered most of this topic last week:

"Yeah, Clinton put specific steps in motion, then failed to act on them. As said herein before, he simply lacked the courage to take out bin Laden."
What? The facts are that Clinton rained Tomahawk missiles down on Afghanistan to kill him. He missed killing him by a matter of hours. (Is that Clinton's fault, or a miscalculation of the military and/or CIA?) How can anyone continue to deny this fact? How can anyone continue to claim that Clinton "failed to act?" As Clinton said himself, he failed to kill bin Laden, but you can't say he didn't do anything.

Clinton didn't go to the U.N. (You'd think the neo-cons would love that.)

Clinton didn't build a "coalition of the willing," instead acting unilaterally. (Coalition of the willing, now there's a joke. In the next war, it's gonna be the "coalition of the people who like us sometimes.")

Cinton aimed at bin Laden with American military muscle and pulled the trigger. (If he'd been as good a shot as Dick Cheney, he'd have hit Osama in the face and then tried to cover it up, but that's a different story.)

BTW, Weaver is always harping on the folks who criticize Bush. He says they should have more respect for the office of the presidency, blah, blah, blah. As usual, he sees no problem disrespecting former President Clinton. Or, I suspect, will he have any problem criticizing Hillary Clinton should she become president. I hate hypocrites.
