The largest land mammal in America is the American Bison. American bison typically reach 7 to 11 feet in length and weigh 900 to 2,200 pounds. They feed primarily on grasses and can run nearly 30 miles an hour. Full-grown bulls stand 6 feet or more at the shoulder.


On May 27, 2006, the U.S. Postal Service released the Wonders of America stamp collection. There are 40 stamps that feature natural and man-made wonders of the United States. The front of each stamp illustrates the superlative nature of a particular place or thing and the name or location of the featured wonder. Text on the back of each stamp provides relevant statistics and other interesting information.
