In case you didn't see this on the news yesterday, here's an incredible video of an American veteran back from Iraq and surprising his son in his kindergarten class. Warning: Grab a box of tissues before you watch. See more at NBC's Seattle affiliate KING Channel 5.
Maybe I'm naive, but it's a stark contrast between us and those who are trying to subvert our way of life. We strive to love and cherish our children; they train theirs to be murderous, suicide-bombing "martyrs." Americans may not be perfect, but I'll take a society based on the values shown here over theirs anyday.

This was incredibly sweet and moving. To be fair, though, I don't think our media are focused on showing us tender and loving moments in families "over there". I'm sure that those moments happen much more often.
I agree with you to a point. Not all American families are loving, and surely not all Middle Eastern families are hateful. I did qualify my statement by saying, "...those who are trying to subvert or way of life."
After your comment, I did a quick google to see if I could be more clear about what I meant. If you are interested, I found this link from the PBS Frontline series.

It describes how a lot of Middle Eastern societies, with government support, are teaching a strict form of Wahhabism in madrassas. I think we have some crazies here in the U.S., but I don't think were are teaching widespread hate as part of a culturally approved and government-funded curriculum.
Regarding your comment above, it really all boils down to the idiocy of "organized religion" which continues to perpetuate the whole "we are right, they are wrong" mentality. Do away with all this religious b.s. and the world will finally be at peace. For a day or two at least.
That was sweet. Little John's actions and face spoke volumes. You were right...I did need the box of tissues.
