TV Thursday: Lost

**SPOILER ALERT FOR REST OF POST**

Except for one bombshell, this episode was very slow. I read somewhere that the shows are great as long as you like the character that's featured in the back story. I don't care for Claire so her irresponsible goth period this week was rather uninteresting to me. However, she does work in a tattoo parlor and is probably where Jack got the upper skin art and met her at an earlier time.

• Desmond saved Charlie. Again. This time, he saved the booby from drowning whilst trying to catch a booby to present to Claire who, we find out, is a wildlife expert from watching nature shows in the hospital while she's babysitting her mom.

• Before he was zapped by the Easter Island-ish microwave fence, Pirate of the Scarey-ibbean gave us a couple of tidbits. First, that Kate wasn't on "the list" because she was flawed; second, he seemed to indicate that John is on the list; third, that there is someone on the island in a higher position than Ben. We'd already heard this in a previous episode.

• No mention of The Hostiles. Could that be the smog monster? Are there more? Who, exactly, was that fence designed to keep out?

• Claire was responsible for a car accident that left her mom a vegetable in the hospital. We found out that Jack's father is her father as well. That was the bombshell. Unfortunately for me, I read about that on some web site about a month ago.

• John's got some serious ulterior motives going on...we saw it with his sacrifice of Pirate dude, his concealment of the plastic explosives, and the previews of next week's episode where we'll find out more about his back story.

• And in the final scene, we see Jack is playing football with Other Tom. Remember I pointed out that I think Tom is gay and has a crush on Jack. Now they are playing ball in The Barracks. Need I say more?
