TV Thursday: Lost

**SPOILER ALERT FOR ENTIRE POST**

We should call this episode "The Unseen." Nikki and Paulo have been among the crash survivors all along but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that we got to meet them. In last night's show, we were taken on a time travel as we see what they and many of the other characters were doing "off-camera" when we were busy following the heretofore series regulars.

• Open with Nikki running then is digging in the jungle to bury something. Later she stubbles out of the jungle and collapses on the beach in front of Hugo and Sawyer who are playing a ping pong grudge match. She breathlessly says something to Hurley before he pronounces her dead. The team goes looking for Paulo and finds him worked-out-abs up in the woods. They drag Paulo to the beach and they speculate how they died. Killed by "the monster," a polar bear, a dinosaur, poison, virus???? Did Sawyer kill 'em?
• Turns out Nikki's an actress and was in Sydney filming a scene for a pseudo Charlie's Angels show called Expose. Billy Dee Williams was guest star on the show and the show within a show. Nikki's working the Producer and is in cahoots with Paulo who has managed to become the guy's private chef. They end up poisoning him to get at the goods in his safe.
• Back in time to the original crash site, a cool scene of someone getting sucked into the jet's whirring jet engine just after the crash. Nikki finds Paulo but she can't find their carry-on bag. Creepy Ethan rears his head (we now know he's an Other) and offers our dynamic duo any assistance they might need. Mayhem is gripping the survivors when Jack takes charge. "Every man for himself is not going to work. But if we can't live together, we're gonna die alone."
• Next up we meet junior high school science teacher Dr. Leslie Arts. He's in hog heaven, collecting rare bug species he's been finding on the island. What's that, you ask? Well it's a medusa spider that has poison that paralyzes the nervous system. And the female's scent glands are so strong they'll attract all the males on the island if she's let out of her jar. Cue suspenseful music. Dun, Dun, Duh.
• Okay, before they turn up non-responsive, these two are out ramming around in the woods looking for their lost luggage. They find the plane in the tree, the Pearl hatch, and their fellow not-so-fortunate passengers buckled into their seats at the bottom of the pond. Why hasn't anyone raised these dead bodies? If not for a decent funeral, maybe so that the pond doesn't get fouled by rotting flesh.
• Nikki discovers Paulo has double-crossed her by spotting his nicotine gum (lazy writing here), so to teach him a lesson, she unleashes the female medusa spider on his ass which bites and paralyzes him. She recovers $8M worth of diamonds from his crotch hiding spot...then all the male spiders show up and bite her ass, too.
• Well, the upshot is the survivor's cemetery is filling up, but not with just dead people, as Nikki's eyes open just as the last shovel of dirt covers her up. Paralyzed and buried alive. What a way to go! Or will their arm pop up out of the mound of dirt when we least expect it? Shades of Friday the 13th, I'm afraid.

In other news:
• Sun found out that Charlie and Sawyer were in cahoots and were responsible for her kidnapping.
• We catch a glipse of pre-captured bug-eyed Ben and Juliet in the Pearl hatch when Paulo is hiding his tchotchke stash in the toilet tank.
• Seems the survivors have truly given up hope since both Sun and Sawyer were willing to give up the diamonds since they are worthless on the island.

Did you catch anything I didn't?

I just felt like last nights episode was a complete and total throwaway. I mean, these were minor characters to begin with and for all intensive purposes, they both wound up "dead"....so what was the point of giving them an hour? This was a lame episode after a decent stretch of really compelling ones I'm afraid. Still, the very last shot where her eyes opened was a bit of a stunner.

I don't watch Lost, but Matthew Fox shore is purty.

This was an out of the ordinary episode, but I loved it! Although I knew I had the right station on, when I came in from the kitchen and that Expose show was on, I thought "what happened to Lost???"! And that last scene was a shocker! Oh no!
