TV Wednesday: American Idol

I snaked this pic from TowleRoad last week. He didn't give his source but questioned its authenticity insomuch that it's cleverly Photoshopped. I just had to include it for Michael over at Manhattan Chowder. Keep them jeans on, Michael!

It was Gina Glocksen's turn to take her place on the cut list last week. I rather liked her, and seeing her perform on the "farewell tour" of all the morning talk shows this week, I'm even more disappointed that she didn't make it. Singing, performance, personality, and style. You can't blame me since I voted for her...multiple times! The Undertaker and Va-va-voom joined Gina in the bottom three. Blake, Chris, and Sanjaya were in the middle three. Jordin, Melinda, and LaKisha were in the top three.

** SPOILER ALERT FOR REST OF POST **

Now for this week's show:

In general, it seemed all the singers were overpowered by the band. Not sure how it sounded live in the venue.

The Final 8
Blake Lewis (pictured) — Back on top this week. I've been down on him the past few weeks but I really liked it. I'm not exactly sure the urban dance moves go with Latin music.
Melinda Doolittle — Stylists did a great job. Great hair, makeup, dress, and jewelry. Awesome singing with a sultry style. She is going to be very, very tough to beat. Every week she's just on her game.
LaKisha Jones — It was pretty good and she used J. Lo's dance moves. She just didn't seem as though she was having fun. (After I wrote this, Randy said how much fun he thought she was having!)
Chris Richardson — I think this was the first performance of his that I've enjoyed.
Haley Scarnato — Great! I'm just loving her which probably means she'll be next to go — I'm a loyal fan nonetheless. The judges seem to have it out for her so they run her down. I wanted to include her pic and make her #1 but Blake outperformed her. She picked one of my all time favorite songs, "Turn the beat around." She's gorgeous and I loved the hot pants!
Phil Stacey — Uncle Fester was wearing a hat that made him look like he just pulled up in his MG Midget — except this week's theme was Latin-flavored music. I didn't like the song and I just can't get into him. As Simon would say, "Sawrry."
Jordin Sparks — I hate to say it since she's one of my favorites but it was completely uninspired. (And Randy said just the opposite.) If nothing else, she looked hot.
Sanjaya Malakar — Same as the past two weeks...vocals weren't too bad. I gotta give him credit for going out there week after week and just doing it. I'd be a nervous wreck. And did you catch the queen in the front row of the audience with the pony hawk? Too funny.

My Predictions For This Week
Best — Blake Lewis
Worst — Phil Stacey
Out — Phil Stacey

Thank you SO much for posting that picture of "my boys." You beat me to it--I was going to post that photo too. Photoshopped or not--it makes me happy.

A "Blaker Girl" outed herself as the source of the photo over at www.QueerSighted.com ... FYI.
