Phone Poll

Ring, ring.

"Hello?"

"Hello, I'm conducting a survey..."

"OH. MY. GOD! Is this for the new Drew Cary show? That would be SO cool!"

"No, sorry sir, I'm conducting a survey (blah blah blah) that will take 5 to 6 minutes if we go quick."

"Okay, I'm in."

"Do you think the country is moving in the..."

"We're FUCKED!"

[Pause.] "...right direction. Strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, strongly disagree."

"Strongly disagree."

Blah, Blah, Blah. "Who would you vote for?" Blah, blah, blah. "Should we bomb targets like Osama bin Laden in Pakistan if we don't have approval from Musharref?" Blah, blah, blah.

"Do you know any people that identify as homosexual?"

"YES! ME!"

"Cool."

A few questions about don't ask, don't tell and marriage equality.

The poll was mostly political, asking about candidates, the state of the union, government regulation of junk food, etc. I can usually figure out who commissioned the poll but not this time.

I had fun and I think she did, too. If I'm gonna do a survey, I like to make it interesting.

Good for you. I never think to have fun with the phone people. I usually just hang up.
