I Feel Pretty, Oh So Pretty!

My facelift is complete and I couldn't be happier! It took some doing but I've finally ditched my old blog template and came up with a design and style that is unique to me. Now that all is said and done, I wish I had done it sooner.

I had to upgrade my blog to the next version of Blogger templates that automate many of the blogging functions. For the most part, it will be easier to update, but I've lost quite a bit of control I had with directly editing the HTML code as I'd been doing.

For those with Blogger interested in doing a similar facelift, here are some time saving tips:

• Copy your entire existing template HTML code and paste it into a Word document and save it. This will help you remember all of your blog roll information when you re-enter it later on, need your favicon code, and in case something goes horribly wrong, you have a backup.

• Consider setting up a practice blog for the sake of experimentation. I did that and it allowed me to tinker with things such as figuring out the size of the header photo, practicing color schemes, adjusting line spacing, etc.

• I selected the Rounders 3 Template. Since I wanted to change the background color, I eliminated the "rounders" effect to solve a color-coordination issue. (I wasn't able to figure out how to change the color of the graphics that make the corners round.) To stop the rounders effect, I manually edited the HTML code of the template. Where ever there was a line of code referencing a .gif file with "corner" in its file name, I just deleted the "f" in ".gif". In this way, the files aren't loaded but I can easily put them back in the same place by putting the "f" back if I want to in the future.

• The width of the top graphic is 740 pixels in this template and I used Photoshop to resize my favorite photo from the summer garden — Coreopsis Creme Brulee and Coral Bells Palace Purple. Then you can easily add it to the page by editing the Header Element in the Template. No one can have a blog exactly like mine because I used my own unique photo — even though the blog is built on a standard template used by tons of people.
Hope this helps!

Love the new look!
It's so nice out today. Have you been apple picking yet? I think I'll be going next weekend.

OMG Kim...I went today and just got back! Went up to Bowman Orchards in Clifton Park. What a zoo! It took us 45 minutes to get through the checkout line. My advice is to go early. We left at 11:30 and that was about an hour too late.

I took some good pics and I'll do a post sometime this week. I'll be in apple pie making mode for a month!

Well, the colour scheme will take a little getting used to. But at least you have a custom look, unlike mine.

Let's just hope you stop at this one procedure. The last thing anybody wants is for your one face lift to turn you into Joan Van Ark.

Or have a face lift that makes you look like Marie Osmond - she looks like she's constantly surprised.
