TV Wednesday On Thursday: American Idol

It was the gals' turn to sing songs from the 60's.

My Favorites Of The Night
Syesha Mercado — Tobacco Road
• Strong, soaring vocal.

Kristy Lee Cook — Rescue Me
• Her voice was Carrie Underwood-esque, but not as strong, which could have been attributed to her bronchitis. I want her to do well so she can buy that damn horse back.

Carly Smithson — Shadow Of Your Smile
• Embroiled in controversy this week since she had a previous recording contract. She had bronchitis, too, but did great!

Alaina Whitaker — More Today Than Yesterday
• The youngest of the girls — she turns 17 today.

Asia'h Epperson — Piece Of My Heart
• My pre-season favorite put in an energetic if not spectacular performance.

I was rooting for the rock 'n' roll nurse Amanda Overmyer but I didn't get her or her song at all. She said the song was a "standard" but neither I nor Simon had ever heard of it. The judges all liked her, though.

All in all, the girls outperformed the boys by a mile.

You know, this is the first year I haven't watched it. NOt sure why. I did catch the last 3 acts last night, and the recaps of the rest. You know who I was really impressed with? Ramiele Malubay. Wow. I also liked Syesha Mercado.

My favorite was the girl who did "Spinning Wheel". I thought she nailed it.

And I did NOT like the little asian girl-- thought she sucked, even though everyone else is cumming all over her.
