TV Tuesday On Wednesday: American Idol

The top five were mentored by Neil Diamond. This week there was some buzz about the low ratings this season. "Is it the judges," they ask. "Is it Seacrest?" No, it's the utter lack of talent!

In Order Of My Preference

Syesha Mercado
Hello, Again
• My girl did a great job. She looked great, too.

Thank The Lord For The Nighttime
• She did pretty good.

David Cook
I'm Alive
• It was alright.

All I Really Need Is You
• I thought he forgot the words early in the song.
• I'm still not getting what all the fuss is with this guy.
David Archuleta
Sweet Caroline
• Was he off pitch (sharp?) the whole song?

America
• I think the song choice was aimed at the southern voting block.
• It wasn't bad, it wasn't great.
Brooke White
I'm A Believer
• She did okay.

I Am, I Said
• She had some of the lyrics written on her hand and made the comment that "after last week...". I thought that was kinda cool.
• I think she would have been better served singing straight up rather than behind the piano.
Jason Castro
Forever In Blue Jeans
• Damn. I liked it. Double damn.

September Morn
• September yawn.

Our ranking is a little different this week (I love David Archuletta) but otherwise we're pretty much in tune. You're ranking is right in line with DialIdol this week http://www.dialidol.com/asp/predictions/Predictions.asp

I watched but refuse to blog about it because I do believe the show is lacking in the talent department. I found David A. to be boring and I thought he was sharp as well. I thought the best part of the show was Paula commenting on songs that hadn't been performed yet and her calling Syesha "Brooke".

That Paula, always right on target.

I think Syesha has consistently gotten better every performance-- yet the judges slam her.

I like David Cook because I think he is the most marketable today as his sound is very in tune with what is popular.

David A does a good job but ... meh.

I love brook behind the piano. I think it gives her a confidence boost

Hate Jason. He needs to go home with a bullet...

I have to say I have watched every American Idol up until last year over here in the UK. It is aired here on Friday nights and I used to love sitting down to watch it. But I think it is so boring and such a lack of talent this year. I have tuned in 2 or 3 times but only for 5-10 minutes and I don't even really know anything about the contestants really. Its not the program it was. Maybe the format is just starting to run dry I don't honestly know.

romach--your experience there is the same here. i think the general consensus is that this group is the least talent in the history of the show.

We are almost on the mark this week! Our #1 and 2 is switched. I do love David Cook..you know that. I just can't help myself. LOL!
I'm a rock-n-roll gal at heart.

I agree about the whole Paula thing. It was totally blown out of preportion by the media. She jotted notes during the rehearsals and she got mixed up. She normally gets "mixed-up" alot, but still it was so rushed then she had the peanut gallery Simon behind her talking to her. Very bizarre.
