Am I Who I Hate?

In the past 24 hours, I have struggled with the trait that I dislike most in others. That being hypocrisy.

For those of you that have been living under a rock the last 24 hours, my forced introspection has come from the whole NY Governor Spitzer whore-gate, where the former NY Attorney General who prosecuted prostitution rings was discovered to be banging them. And if you believe the gossip, up the ass without a condom.

When he was elected Governor in 2006, he had 66% of the popular vote. Everyone had high hopes and he got on the pro-Marriage Equality bandwagon right from the start. Then it was downhill with scandal after scandal. Then he wanted to give official drivers' licenses to illegals. Last week, before the latest news broke, his approval rating was down in the low 30%.

I found myself holding back on condemning him. Why? His political philosophy is the same as mine. If a right winger had been caught doing this, I would be all over it, crying "hypocrite, he's gotta go!"

Now Mr. Clean ain't so clean after all. He's a hypocrite, and if I let it slide, so am I.

Holding myself accountable, I hereby declare, "Eliot, you're a hypocrite, and you gotta go."

Who's next?

There has been a lot of public discussion about California Congressman Fred Dreier (R-San Dimas) in the local press. It's an open secret in his district (they don't really care...hey, it's California!) and in Washington D.C. He's a high-ranking Republican, and it is rumored that he was passed over for Speaker of the House after Tom DeLay quit because of his gay baggage. He's in an LTR so unless he wanders a la George Michael he seems securely in his "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" closet. See, you can be a gay Republican, you just can't admit it to the masses.

It's A Boy!

Ummm, I mean the baby's gonna be a boy. Vice President Darth Cheney revealed the gender of his future grandchild. The baby is due next month. We still don't know who the father is...could it be Darth himself? This family is so psychologically screwed up, with boundary issues galore, that nothing would surprise me.

Or maybe it's fake-Marine former escort James "Jeff Gannon / Bulldog" Guckert. On an "out-call" to visit Karl Rove, the White House mastermind could have saved the hooker's swimmers for future impregnation to create a new race of right-wing Christian radicals.
