Ed Weaver Is A Nitwit 11.18.06

Believe it or not, I don't have much of a beef with Eddie boy's column this week. He said a lot, but not much of anything. Kinda like a hot, humid summer wind. You know it's oppressive, you know it's going somewhere, but you just can't figure out how or where.

Here's an excerpt from Weaver's 11.18.06 article and my feelings about it:

When trying to explain why the GOP suffered such an election defeat...

"The War in Iraq was NOT the chief reason, no matter how many pundits on both sides claim it was."
Tell that to Karl Rove who acknowledges as much. Rumsfeld didn't get the ax the day after the election because voters think Iraq is all roses and candy.

As Weaver says further on in his article, it was also rampant out of control spending/pork/earmarks that have thrown the budget into massive deficits. While the Alaskan "Bridge To Nowhere" project was canceled, the funding was not. It was merely change from an earmark for the bridge to a block grant to the state of Alaska.

And Weaver leaves out that voters were rebuking Republican corruption. Those are exit polls and surveys talking, not the pundits.

Ed Weaver's column appears every Saturday in The Record newspaper in Troy, NY. I'd say he's a right-wing conservative, but all indications are that he's even whackier than that. His views are so skewed, and based in a reality that I don't even recognize, that I think he sees the world through fun house mirrors‚ only it isn't funny. He's proof of the theory that hindsight is 20/20, only his vision is 20/100...20 for those things that support his views, 100 for those that don't.

Sounds like someone should introduce him to Ann Coulter; they'd make a lovely couple.

I'd be afraid they might procreate. I always said that a coupling of Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity surely would be devil's spawn.

BTW, this columnist is an old coot that looks like Wilford Brimley.
