Ralph Nader announced his third-party campaign for president on Meet the Press. He says most Americans are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties, and that none of the presidential contenders are addressing ways to stem corporate crime and Pentagon waste and promote labor rights.
Nader ran as a third-party candidate in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. He is still loathed by many Democrats who call him a spoiler and claim his candidacy in 2000 cost the party the election by siphoning votes away from Al Gore in a razor-thin contest in Florida.

How about Nader as the douche bag of this political season? Nader says that people are fed up with the Dems and the Republicans and to an extent that is true but when Mike Huckabee endorses Nader because his campaign is good for the Republican party you have to consider that Nader is secretly working for the GOP.
I used to have a great deal of respect for the man. The 2000 election made me wonder (as the commenter above noted) if he's really not working for the GOP- or is his ego really that large?
The real question is, does anyone pay any attention to Ralph anymore? I think he lost all his credibility back in 2000. With any luck, he'll wind up driving more people to vote for the Democratic candidate.
You know i think there might be something to the idea that he is secretly a GOP sympathizer.
Either way, it just rubs me the wrong way when in a race that is this important he positions himself as the third party protest vote. a nice option for those who want to participate outside of actually taking a stand on one of the two primary candidates.
I was thinking more about this today. He says that Americans aren't enthusiastic about their current choices. I think we should compare an Obama rally with one of his. I'd say Obama supporters in particular seem pretty darn happy their candidate is running.
I lost all respect for Ralph after 2000, I've thought him a douchebag ever since.
I was just bitching about him myself. I mean, come on Ralph, if it hasn't happened in your last 4 runs, up against the likes of Kerry and Bush, it ain't gonna happen with Obama and Clinton in the race. He's a self centered ass.
Not enthusiastic? It's a long time since I've seen people so passionate about an election. I've already started working on my Bush pinata.
My fear is not Nader, it's Condi Rice walking into the Republican Convention without campaigning and taking it away from everyone.
That's usually when I wake up screaming.
