Rosie, Kelli, And Marriage Equality

Remember when everyone was bitching about Rosie O'Donnell's lack of participation in the Prop 8 campaign in California. How they all said she needed to do more, to contribute more, to be visible more???

Well now it all makes sense.

On her Sirius Satellite radio show, O'Donnell suddenly admitted Carpenter had moved out of their home two years ago. The reason for the big reveal? A pressing psychic and a long-haired chihuahua.

And, when asked who "sometimes looks after her," [the dog] O'Donnell explained her four children all fight over caring for the pup, which she got three days after Carpenter left. "What happened [was] when Kelli moved out two years ago, I got the dog. Because I wanted another child or something to love. And I got the dog."
Wonder where everyone is with their public apologies for all the crap talk and pressure they put on her?

Rosie Vs. Barbara, Round 2

I found this over at Rosie's website. It's just so juicy I couldn't sit on it to post it as my Saturday levity post.

The clip from The View that Rosie is watching (Round 1) is from today, November 20. Notice that Rosie includes a photo of her and Barbara all smiles from a week before.

Rosie O'Donnell On Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Yesterday, in the Ask Ro section of Rosie O'Donnell's blog, she responded to a question about Elisabeth Hasselbeck — her former co-host on The View — thusly:

"she thinks she is marilyn
from the munsters"
I thought that was just perfect! She's the "pretty, normal" one surrounded by people who are clueless about their, how shall we say, "imperfections."

Today, someone responded that the real Marilyn is a friend of the family. Not sure if that is true or not, or which Marilyn they were talking about (must be Beverly Owen since Pat Priest is married and living in Idaho), but interesting nonetheless.

Douche Bag Of The Week: Donald Trump

The new executives running NBC said they'd bring Donald Trump's reality show The Apprentice back from near extinction for at least one more run — this time with celebrities playing for charity.

And in yet another twist to efforts to revive the low-rated Apprentice franchise — and NBC's own sagging fortunes — they said Trump was inviting his archfoe, actress-comic Rosie O'Donnell, to join the cast of the show's latest edition.

Trump's impending return, and his invitation to O'Donnell, drew the most attention at the opening of NBC's annual summer presentation to TV critics. Trump and O'Donnell made headlines last year with a nasty war of words that began when O'Donnell, then co-host of the daytime talk show The View, mocked Trump on the air for his rebuke of disgraced beauty queen Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006. Trump fired back with a series of public insults, calling O'Donnell, among other things, "a fat slob," "a loser" and "despicable." The feud continued off and on for months.

Silverman said a Trump-O'Donnell union would be "great for television," and he insisted the offer was genuine, though he conceded, "I don't know if she'd do it."

The proposal was almost instantly shot down by O'Donnell's publicist, Cindi Berger, whose terse reply when told of the idea was, "Not in this lifetime, or beyond."

The View: Holy Guacamole!

If you don't watch The View, you're missing some serious action. Resentments sowed on Monday's show came to the fore today. Things were so heated between Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck that the director went split screen and held from going to a commercial.

Today's fracas began when Joy started in with a laundry list of reasons why President Bush needs to be impeached. She had watched Al Gore on Larry King Live last night and was seething. He apparently said what President Carter said earlier in the week — that Bush is the worst president in U.S. history. Of course, Elisabeth jumped to his defense, and then Mount Rosie erupted, trying to get Elisabeth to acknowledge that she didn't think U.S. troops were terrorists (this was the spill over from Monday's show). Elisabeth still didn't answer.

Update 1: Clip added 5/23 @ 11:11 EDT. Thanks to Big Daddy for the tip on the clip.

• I give Joy credit for attempting to be the one to take on the President and Elisabeth. Rosie is always skewered for this and I was glad that Joy stepped it up. Unfortunately things went awry.

• Rosie only has three weeks left on the show.

• Guest star Alicia Silverstone came out to be interviewed after the argument. It is standard for guests to hug and/or kiss all the co-hosts. She came out and breezed right by Elisabeth, who you could tell was clearly miffed by the snub, and hugged Rosie and Joy.

Update 2: Clip added 5/23 @ 11:47 EDT.

Why Are You Searching For Kathy Griffin?

In the past 24 hours, I've got a ton of hits from people googling "Kathy Griffin, Rosie O'Donnell, Sharon Stone." If you are one of those folks, would you tell me what prompted your search? I know Kathy did a stand up routine about these ladies in a comedy special quite a while ago. Did that just come out on DVD? Was it repeated on Bravo? What? Tell me, tell me!!

The reason that Google returned my blog to your seach query was because of my review of Kathy Griffin when she appeared at the Palace Theater in Albany, NY last November.

Update: I believe the traffic came from a question posed on Rosie O'Donnell's blog regarding Kathy Griffin's bit that I mentioned above. The Q and A post didn't give the whole story so I believe that people searched to find the story.
