Answer to Previous Question on Stamp #17:

The largest flower in America is the American Lotus. Solitary and fragrant, the American lotus flower may reach 10" in diameter; its single round leaf can reach more than 2' in diameter. The lotus grows in ponds, lakes, and streams, and was a source of food for American Indians.


On May 27, 2006, the U.S. Postal Service released the Wonders of America stamp collection. There are 40 stamps that feature natural and man-made wonders of the United States. The front of each stamp illustrates the superlative nature of a particular place or thing and the name or location of the featured wonder. Text on the back of each stamp provides relevant statistics and other interesting information.
