I tell ya, I can't make this stuff up. Ed Weaver's at it again, this time taking on discrimination against...hold for it...Republicans!
"Did you see where the National Basketball Association has banned five-time all-star Tim Hardaway from all All-Star festivities in Las Vegas (he had several contracted speaking engagements)? What did the standout do? He said, "I hate gay people." Okay, fine. But what did the Democratic National Committee do to its chairman Howard Dean when he said, "I hate Republicans?" Nothing. No one did. The media said zilch, top elected Democrats were mum. They all merely toasted him privately. Still think there's no double standard, folks — hating someone simply because he's/she's a Republican?"Where do I start?
• Tim Hardaway said he hates gay people, not the Cleveland Cavaliers.
• Howard Dean's comment, in my opinion is like saying he hates the other team.
• Howard Dean didn't say that Republicans shouldn't be in the world or the United States.
• Republicans weren't sent to gas chambers and killed by the Nazis by the hundreds of thousands.
• People aren't denied housing on a societal basis because they are Republicans.
• People aren't denied employment on a societal basis because they are Republicans.
• People aren't denied killed on a societal basis because they are Republicans.
If Eddy boy has such an interest in protecting Republicans, who he perceives as being persecuted, I suggest he lobby his representatives to add political party to the list of protected classes. Might I suggest he do it from the stage of the Improv so at least an audience can enjoy the entertainment as he's laughed out of the building.
Ed Weaver's column appears every Saturday in The Record newspaper in Troy, NY. I'd say he's a right-wing conservative, but all indications are that he's even whackier than that. His views are so skewed, and based in a reality that I don't even recognize, that I think he sees the world through fun house mirrors, only it isn't funny. He's proof of the theory that hindsight is 20/20, only his vision is 20/100...20 for those things that support his views, 100 for those that don't.
