Ed Weaver Is A Nitwit 3.31.07

If you can't defeat someone based on ideas, well just start calling them names. In this week's column, Ed Weaver repeatedly calls those that want to pull out of Iraq as "Defeatocrats." Hey, everyone, it's just like kindergarten!

Have you seen what's going on with Bill O'Reilly against Rosie O'Donnell on his show The Factor. Same stuff. He doesn't argue her points with reasoning and facts, he just calls her names. He isn't much better the Donald Trump. I guess both are hurting for ratings.

And have you ever read a discussion thread on Yahoo! News on any political topic. Talk about name calling. The raw underbelly of American society laid bare for all to see. It was disgusting and embarrassing. It got to be so bad that Yahoo! wisely diabled the discussion feature. Namecalling begets namecalling. When Ed calls people Defeatocrats, I wait for the other side to call him a Republitard.

When discussing a legislative timetable for troops to be pulled out of Iraq, Weaver writes:

But anyone who denies that our enemies are energized by such legislation has his/her credibility damaged.

Ummmm, I think that our entire foray into Iraq has damaged our nation's credibility the world over...among our friends and enemies alike.

Ed Weaver's column appears every Saturday in The Record newspaper in Troy, NY. I'd say he's a right-wing conservative, but all indications are that he's even whackier than that. His views are so skewed, and based in a reality that I don't even recognize, that I think he sees the world through fun house mirrors, only it isn't funny. He's proof of the theory that hindsight is 20/20, only his vision is 20/100...20 for those things that support his views, 100 for those that don't.
